Design
a Star Trek Alien Species (8/31/2019)
The
goal of this assignment is to teach you to work with narrow parameters on a licensed
property, with the intent of producing a complimentary design to the franchise that
will hold up over a long period of time. In addition, it is intended to broaden
your understanding of character design in the science fiction genre.
Before
you get started, If you have not seen any Star Trek shows or movies I recommend
you watch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(film) from
2009 or any good episodes of a Star Trek series of your choice.

This is a 2-part assignment.
PART 1:
-Render in Color a front and back view of your Alien dressed in its traditional clothing, that could fit on a human actor, in any art style.
-Provide an additional sheet of any face studies you did to develop your idea.
-Write
up answers to this list of questions

2. HOMEWORLD: Describe Climate and appearance of their native environment and architecture.
3. TECHNOLOGY LEVEL: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Steel Age, Space Travel, Warp Speed, etc.
4. PHYSIOLOGY: Unique biological traits, weaknesses, strengths, what they eat, etc. What makes their bodies different than humans?
5. COLOR PALETTE: What colors do you associate wit this race, skin color, clothing colors, etc.
6. MATERIALS PALETTE: What materials define their clothing and culture. When it comes to woven fabrics, be specific. Remember, they are aliens who do things a little differently than humans.
7. RELIGIOUS BELIEF: Describe what they believe regarding an afterlife or any essential beliefs they hold that shape their culture, even if they do not believe in a religious system or doctrine. What is their creation or origin story?
8. CULTURE: How does their society work? Gender differences in clothing? How do they take a mate, what rites of passage do they have? What defines their economy? What gives them their purpose in society, etc.
